Understanding public opinion on the EU is important. People in Austria who feel connected to other Europeans are more likely to support deeper integration in the EU. This emotional connection, called European Social Capital, includes trust, norms, and networks with other Europeans. Economic arguments alone are not enough to explain why people support more integration in the EU.
