Boosting Maize Yields by 40% in Ethiopia with Lime and Nitrogen
The researchers studied how using lime and nitrogen fertilizer together can improve maize crop yield in acidic soil in Ethiopia. They tested different amounts of lime and nitrogen on maize plants and found that combining 0.5 tons of lime with 400 kg of nitrogen per hectare increased maize yield by 13.42%. This means that farmers can increase their maize production by using the right combination of lime and nitrogen. The study also showed that the economic benefit of this method was 47,701.04 Ethiopian Birr.
