Direct seeding of rice on optimal dates boosts paddy yield significantly.
Changing from puddle transplanting to direct seeding in rice cultivation can save labor and costs. A study in Rasht, Iran, looked at how seeding date and planting method affect rice growth and yield. They found that seeding date significantly impacts paddy yield, with the best results seen in early May. Delaying seeding reduces yield. Planting method didn't affect yield, and direct seeding was as effective as transplanting. Weed biomass wasn't affected by seeding date or planting method. Overall, the best paddy yield in direct seeding was achieved with early May seeding dates.
