International remittances have a mixed impact on poverty in developing countries. A study looked at data from 66 countries over 9 years and found that while remittances initially helped reduce poverty, this effect disappeared when considering country-specific factors. In simpler terms, sending money from abroad can alleviate poverty in some cases, but it may not always have a lasting impact in developing countries.
