India's Agricultural Soils Suffering from Widespread Micronutrient Deficiencies Impacting Crop Quality
The study assessed deficiencies of sulfur and micronutrients in Indian agricultural soils to improve crop productivity and nutritional quality. They collected soil samples from 615 districts and found widespread deficiencies of sulfur, zinc, and boron. Some areas also lacked iron, copper, and manganese. The study identified various combinations of nutrient deficiencies, which can guide the use of fertilizers for better crop production and soil health. This information can help address malnutrition in humans and animals.
