New biofuel briquettes from palm kernel shells set to replace wood charcoal!
Smokeless biofuel briquettes made from palm kernel shells can be a safer alternative to wood charcoal for cooking and heating. By treating the shells with slow pyrolysis at different temperatures and mixing them with starch, researchers found that briquettes made at 600℃ with 5% starch had the best combustion properties. This method could help reduce the need for wood charcoal and limit deforestation for fuel purposes.
