Optimizing Nitrogen Application Timing Boosts Rice Yield by 12%
Nitrogen is crucial for growing rice, but it can be lost before the plants can use it. By changing when nitrogen is applied, researchers found that splitting the application at the panicle initiation stage (around 58 days after seeding) led to better rice yields compared to applying it earlier. This method increased the weight of 100 grains and the total grain yield by 12.13%. So, farmers should consider applying nitrogen between 52 and 58 days after seeding for better rice production.
