Cow manure boosts earthworm growth and nutrient values in compost.
A study looked at how cow and goat manures affect the growth and nutrients of earthworms. After 5 weeks, cow manure vermicompost had higher nitrogen and phosphorus levels than goat manure. Cow manure also provided a better environment for earthworms compared to peat soil and goat manure. The pH became more acidic during the process, and the earthworms gained weight in all treatments. This shows that vermicomposting with Eisenia foetida is a good way to turn organic waste into valuable material.
