Serbia's Untapped Biomass Potential: A Renewable Energy Lifeline to Reduce Fossil Fuel Dependence
Biomass is a renewable energy source that can help meet Serbia's energy needs. Currently, only 7% of energy comes from renewables, with biomass having the most untapped potential. By using biomass for energy, Serbia could replace 25% of its current energy production. The main challenge is efficiently burning biomass due to its varying moisture and energy content. However, technologies like Combined Heat and Power plants offer a promising solution by generating both electricity and heat simultaneously. Increasing the use of biomass for energy production is crucial for Serbia's future energy security.
