Grass Pea Sowing Dates Boost Yields, Transforming Rainfed Farming in Sulaimani
In Sulaimani Region, a study examined how different planting times affect the growth and yield of four types of grass pea plants during the winter season of 2019-2020. They planted the seeds on three different dates: October 15th, November 1st, and November 15th. The plants planted on November 15th grew the tallest, took the longest to flower and mature, and had the highest seed and plant biomass yields. The plants sown on November 1st had the most pods per plant and the highest harvest index. Those planted on October 15th produced the most seeds and had the highest seed yield. So, the planting date greatly impacts the growth and yield of grass pea varieties, with each timing showing different advantages in terms of plant height, flowering, maturation, and seed production.
