Kazakhstan's Land Faces Devastating Desertification and Degradation Crisis.
Desertification and land degradation are happening in Kazakhstan, especially in the southern parts where there are different types of deserts. The main reasons for this are the dry climate, salty soil, and lack of nutrients in the soil. Recently, human activities have made the situation worse. About 43% of Kazakhstan's land is degrading, with over 14% of pastures in very bad shape. The Aral Sea region and other areas are facing problems like soil desertification and salinization. The study shows that the situation is getting worse, with soil contamination, erosion, and loss of vegetation cover.
