Rotational grazing intervals have no impact on beef heifer feed intake.
The study looked at how different rest intervals between grazing affected the behavior and feed intake of beef heifers on natural grassland. They used two grazing intervals based on the time it takes for grass leaves to expand. The researchers found that the heifers' grazing behavior and feed intake were not significantly different between the two rest intervals. The amount of green leaf mass was similar, and the heifers spent about half of their time grazing. Overall, the heifers maintained similar chemical composition on the natural grassland regardless of the rest interval used.
