China's logistics industry carbon emissions surged 3.22x, but output intensity is key to reduction, study finds.
The study analyzed factors influencing carbon emissions in China's logistics industry from 2000 to 2019. They found that the industry's carbon emissions increased significantly but showed negative growth in 2019. The main factors contributing to increased emissions were the added value of the industry, energy consumption, and population size. On the other hand, the intensity of carbon output played a crucial role in reducing emissions, with energy intensity having a negative impact. Overall, the factors had a limited inhibitory effect on carbon emissions compared to the overall promotion of emissions. The study suggests recommendations for reducing carbon emissions in the logistics industry.
