Revolutionizing Ethanol Production: Corn Stover Pretreatment Boosts Efficiency and Yield
The researchers used a method called Extremely Low-Liquid Ammonia (ELLA) pretreatment to make corn stover easier to turn into ethanol. They treated the corn stover with ammonia and enzymes, then tested how well it could be turned into ethanol. They found that under the best conditions, they could convert 81.2% of the corn stover into sugar and 85.4% of that sugar into ethanol. This method could help make ethanol production more efficient and sustainable.
