EU Copyright Directive Reshapes Digital Landscape Across Europe
The EU Directive on copyright in the Digital Single Market, Directive 2019/790, is aimed at Member States. It outlines obligations that start when the Directive comes into effect, with national adaptations due by June 7, 2021. Countries in the EU or EEA must incorporate the Directive into their laws. New Member States or EEA entrants after June 7, 2021, must comply with the entire Directive. Member States must follow the Directive for EU or EEA accession.
