Pollution impacts in homestead ponds revealed by macrobenthic community diversity
The study looked at the different types of small creatures living in ponds in Noakhali coast, Bangladesh, and how they are affected by the environment. They found 17 species of these creatures, with nematodes being the most common. The nematodes were negatively affected by high salinity, low dissolved oxygen, and pH levels. The diversity of these creatures varied between different locations in the ponds. Overall, the ponds seemed to be in good condition for supporting these creatures. The researchers used different statistical methods to analyze the data and found distinct patterns in the community structure of these creatures.
