New Durum Wheat Genotypes Show High Genetic Potential for Improved Yields
A study on durum wheat genotypes showed that there is significant genetic variability among the different types of wheat. The environment had little effect on the characteristics studied. Traits like sedimentation value, days to heading, number of grains per spike, and grain weight showed high heritability and genetic gain. This means that these traits are mostly determined by genetics and can be improved through breeding programs.
