Maize Yields Soar with Innovative Weed and Nutrient Management Strategies
In a farm study, they grew maize after rice and tested different ways to manage weeds and nutrients. They found that using a mix of soil-based nitrogen and vermicompost helped maize plants grow the most and produced the most kernels. Combining specific herbicides called topramezone and atrazine gave even higher kernel yields. These methods also made the plants take up lots of essential nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. Overall, the maize plants absorbed the most nutrients when both good nutrient management and effective weed control methods were used together.
