The article introduces a new tool called Causal System Scenario Tool for analyzing near-miss accidents in Indian railways. The tool helps identify factors leading to signal passing at danger incidents by train pilots. This study is unique because it applies a sociotechnical systems approach to a developing country like India, not just developed economies. By using this tool, the researchers were able to map current issues, propose solutions, and validate the effectiveness of their approach. This tool can help improve safety measures for train travel by guiding policymakers and practitioners in designing interventions.
