Ownership concentration varies globally based on firm size, impacting corporate structures.
Ownership concentration in large firms varies between countries due to differences in firm sizes. Large U.S. firms have more dispersed ownership structures compared to large non-U.S. firms. However, ownership concentration in small firms remains consistent across countries. Variances in ethical values and legal environments help explain these differences. This study offers new insights into global corporate ownership structures and suggests that U.S. ownership structures differ from those in other countries.
