Tunnelling in karst areas can be risky due to water gushing and ground collapse. A study on an urban metro tunnel shows that treating karst caves and using waterproofing strategies can reduce water inflow and prevent accidents. By analyzing limestone fractures and karst caves, a method was developed to lower water inrush risk and avoid ground collapse during tunnelling.
