STAT Proteins Fuel Prostate Cancer Spread and Treatment Resistance.
STAT proteins play a role in prostate cancer growth and resistance to therapy. Different STAT proteins have different functions in prostate cancer. Some STAT proteins are linked to resistance to certain treatments. STAT3, STAT5, and STAT6 are important in prostate cancer spreading to other parts of the body. In advanced prostate cancer, levels of certain STAT proteins are higher. Drugs that target STAT proteins have been tested in prostate cancer treatment but with limited success. The review focuses on the roles of STAT proteins in prostate cancer, especially in advanced stages, and discusses drugs that target these proteins in clinical trials.
