Water quality in Nile River's Damietta branch at risk, study finds.
The study assessed the water quality in a part of the Damietta branch of the Nile River in Egypt by measuring various parameters and calculating a Water Quality Index (WQI). The highest WQI value was at station IX, while the lowest was at station III. Water quality was better in the autumn compared to summer, and the eastern bank of the Damietta branch had better quality than the western bank. Most stations had medium quality water, and the measured parameters generally met Egyptian environmental standards. Turbidity, dissolved oxygen, biochemical oxygen demand, ammonia, and silicate showed significant variability among the stations.
