Ukraine's energy intensity plummets 65% as sectoral efficiency trumps economic structure, study reveals.
Energy efficiency is crucial for economic growth. In Ukraine, energy intensity dropped by 64.9% from 2013 to 2017, but it's still high globally. The study aims to uncover the main reasons behind this decrease. Using the LMDI method, it looked at different sectors like industry, transport, services, and farming. The results show that the energy intensity of each sector plays a big role in the overall energy efficiency of the country. This means that the kind of energy each sector uses affects Ukraine's overall energy intensity more than its economic structure does.
