New model simplifies understanding and compliance with open source software licenses.
Open source software licenses can be confusing due to their variety, making it hard for developers to understand and comply with them. A new method was developed to automatically identify open source software license terms. This method uses three main components: extracting license terms, mining topics in licenses, and mapping relationships between topics and terms. The researchers created a new dataset to train and test their model, showing that their approach successfully identifies license terms.
