Organic Farming Boosts Wheat Yields and Soil Fertility in Alfisol Regions
A study looked at how different ways of managing soil nutrients for wheat crops affect fertility. They tested different methods like using nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium fertilizers, organic matter (FYM), and lime. They found that the best wheat yields came from using NPK fertilizers along with FYM or lime. The soil had the most nitrogen with 150% NPK treatment, the most phosphorus with NPK + FYM, and the most potassium from 150% NPK. They also checked levels of iron, manganese, zinc, and copper, finding higher amounts with the NPK + FYM method. The activity of enzymes in the soil and microbial life were also highest in the NPK + FYM treatment. This research shows that combining different nutrients in soil management can improve wheat yield and enhance soil health over the long term.
