Design Thinking Process Revolutionizes Problem Solving Across Multiple Industries
The goal of the study was to help design students learn how to use the design thinking process as a method in their education. The researchers reviewed existing literature to establish the concept and process of design thinking. They found that industrial design students had the highest awareness of design thinking. All three design fields benefited from direct field experiences in selecting project topics. The idea generation stage was identified as crucial but challenging for all students. Overall, students from all design disciplines showed positive responses to using the design thinking process, finding it more systematic and practical for problem-solving than their usual methods. The study suggests specific processes to aid in problem discovery and idea generation.
