Decreasing Rainfall in China Threatens Agriculture and Increases Flood Risk
Rain-season precipitation in China decreased from 1960 to 2018. Heavy and very heavy rain increased, while light and moderate rain decreased. Northwest China and the Tibetan Plateau saw more rain, but North China Plain, Northeast China, and North Central China got drier. Flood risk rose in East, Southeast, and Southwest China. Understanding these changes helps predict regional climate shifts due to global climate change.
