Visual distractions impair lane-keeping ability in driving simulators and on highways.
Driving simulators and real highways were compared to see how visual distractions affect driving performance. Chinese drivers were tested in both environments at different speeds. The distraction task made it harder for drivers to stay in their lane. The driving speed had similar effects on lane-keeping in both settings. The simulator used in the study was good for studying how distractions affect driving behavior, but it wasn't perfect.
