Coastal erosion ravages Tamil Nadu shoreline, threatening coastal communities.
Shoreline erosion and accretion in the Cuddalore to Nagapattinam coastal area of Tamil Nadu, India were studied using satellite imagery from 2003 to 2017. The analysis revealed high rates of erosion in Mayiladuthurai district and Tharangambadi - Karaikal, especially from Tharangambadi beach to Nagore beach. The study used mathematical techniques and satellite data to calculate erosion and accretion rates, showing significant changes in the shoreline over the years.
