AP Statistics Teachers Not Utilizing Best Practices, Hindering Student Success.
High school teachers of Advanced Placement (AP) Statistics were surveyed to understand their professional learning and practices. Many teachers have taken statistics courses and attend College Board-sponsored professional development. They focus on student interaction and activities but rarely use statistics technology or large datasets. Teachers' beliefs about teaching statistics don't always match their practices. Challenges like lack of time and technology hinder changes in teaching methods. Efforts are needed to involve teachers more in the statistics education community and align their practices with college-level recommendations.
