Prescribed fire ignition techniques affect how fires spread. A new method was developed to model and simulate these techniques. An ignition plan specifies when and how to start fires, which are then carried out by ignition agents using a fire spread simulation model. Six different ignition scenarios were tested, showing that different techniques lead to different fire growth patterns.
