Kavkazskiy Biosphere Reserve Faces Structural Challenges, Requires Expansion for Sustainability
The Kavkazskiy Nature Biosphere Reserve has been part of UNESCO's Biosphere Reserve program for 40 years. However, it no longer meets the current requirements due to its disproportional structure. The reserve mainly focuses on protection and scientific research, but lacks a transition area. To align with modern standards, the reserve needs to expand by creating a continuous buffer and transition area around its core. This restructuring will improve its functionality and better meet the current expectations for biosphere reserves.
