Federal Government Health Spending Boosts Economic Growth in Nigeria.
The impact of health and agriculture financing on economic growth in Nigeria was studied from 1981 to 2019. Time series data from the Central Bank of Nigeria was analyzed. Federal Government spending on health positively affects economic growth, while spending on agriculture also has a positive effect but is not significant. Specifically, capital expenditure in both sectors significantly boosts economic growth. Recurrent spending on health, however, does not have a significant impact. The study confirms a causal relationship among the variables, showing that government spending in these sectors does influence economic growth in Nigeria.
