IS audit boosts audit quality, enhancing corporate accountability and transparency.
The study looked at how the amount of time and personnel dedicated to auditing information systems affects the quality of audits in Korean listed firms. They found that more hours and personnel dedicated to IS audit led to better audit quality, as shown by lower discretionary accruals and higher conservatism scores. This improvement was more pronounced in firms audited by Big 4 firms compared to non-Big 4 firms. Overall, conducting IS audits helps improve audit quality by addressing new risks from using technology in businesses, aligning with international auditing standards.
