Foliar spray of iron boosts pearl millet yield and farmer profits.
The researchers conducted a field experiment to study the effects of iron and zinc on the growth and yield of pearl millet. They applied foliar sprays of FeSO4 and ZnSO4 at specific intervals along with soil applications of these nutrients. The results showed that the treatment with 75% recommended dose of nitrogen, vermicompost, and foliar spray of FeSO4 led to the highest plant growth and yield. This treatment resulted in the tallest plants, highest grain yield, and best economic returns compared to other treatments. Overall, adding foliar spray of FeSO4 along with vermicompost significantly improved the growth and yield of pearl millet.
