Manufacturing has changed a lot in the past decade, with smart technologies playing a big role. The fourth industrial revolution has brought tools that are crucial for this transformation. This review looks at how traditional manufacturing has evolved and discusses different technologies that are making it smarter. By integrating these technologies into the manufacturing supply chain, we can enhance Industry 4.0. However, there are still obstacles to overcome before we can fully shift to smart manufacturing. The fourth industrial revolution has introduced new manufacturing technologies, and there is already talk about a fifth industrial revolution on the horizon.
