Halal Labeling Fraud Exposes Millions of Muslims to Unsafe Products
The paper discusses issues in transporting Halal products in Malaysia. Halal goods are important for over 1.6 billion Muslims globally. Problems like incorrect packaging and labeling were noted. Also, retailers in Pasir Gudang had difficulties managing Halal items. A study examined 152 products labeled as Halal in a local supermarket, including food, drinks, and cosmetics. These products had certifications from various international Halal bodies. The challenges mostly arose due to regulators, retailers, and consumers not doing their part. Retailers tried to meet Halal standards, but they need more awareness. It is crucial to ensure consumers get authentic Halal products.
