Integrated pig-cum-fish farming in Assam boosts profitability and production.
An experiment in Assam, India, combined pig farming with fish culture in a rain-fed pond. The pond was stocked with different fish species and received waste from 18 piglets. Silver carp showed the highest growth rate and weight gain, followed by common carp and grass carp. Catla contributed the most to total fish production. The farm had high fish and pig production, leading to good profitability. Pig-cum-fish farming in rain-fed ponds can be profitable in Assam.
