Revolutionizing Medicinal Plant Biodiversity Assessment in Malaysian Forests
The researchers aimed to find the best way to estimate the number of medicinal plants in a forest in Malaysia. They divided the forest into plots and quadrats to count the plants. They found 236 different medicinal plant species, with the most common being Cinnamomum porrectum. Plot2 had the most variety of plants, while Plot3 had the most even distribution. The software estimated 227 species, but they actually observed 236. The graph of plant species did not level off, meaning there are likely even more plants in the forest.
