This paper looks at how economies grow over time. It shows that in the beginning, countries focus on building up physical things like factories. Then, they shift to investing in people's skills, which becomes the main driver of growth. Finally, they start creating new and better products through innovation. But poor countries might struggle to innovate on their own. To break out of poverty, they need ongoing help with innovation.
