The study looked at how efficient and productive factories in India's manufacturing sector are over a ten-year period. They found that most industries improved their productivity, showing that efficiency exists in the sector. Energy intensity was also analyzed, with more productive plants being more energy efficient. Medium low-tech and high-tech industries were found to be more energy efficient compared to low-tech and medium high-tech industries. The study confirmed that productivity and plant output are key factors influencing energy intensity.
