The article introduces a new method to check if the errors in ANOVA models follow a normal distribution. This method uses smooth tests, which are easy to apply and always give reliable results across different types of ANOVA models. The test statistic has a chi-square distribution, and the researchers also discuss how to choose the right model dimension. Simulation experiments demonstrate that this new method outperforms existing approaches.
