Reducing Forest Dependency in Bangladesh Coastal Communities Through Innovative Solutions.
The study looked at how people in Patharghata, Bangladesh rely on forest resources for their livelihood. They found that things like fuelwood for cooking and materials for housing are important for many households. However, only 19% of total income comes from the forest, with other sources making up the rest. People mainly collect forest resources for cooking, followed by fodder, food, and shelter. The study suggests using alternative cooking methods, artificial tools, and changing occupations to reduce dependency on forests. These solutions would need support from the government and other organizations to be successful.
