Reducing Nitrogen Fertilizer Boosts Cotton Yield and Profits, Study Shows
The study compared two cotton cultivars under different nitrogen fertilizer levels to see how it affected yield and profits. They found that adding more nitrogen didn't increase cotton yield, and the best profits came from using less nitrogen. Newer cotton varieties and leftover nitrogen in the soil helped maintain plant growth and yield, even with less nitrogen. This shows that reducing nitrogen use in nitrogen-rich soils can still keep yields high and profits up, promoting sustainable farming practices.
