A community-based approach was used to protect the Mangkang National Nature Reserve on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau. By involving local residents in conservation efforts, the Black Snub-nosed Monkey was successfully preserved, and poverty in the area was reduced. This close collaboration between the community and the protected area led to increased support and responsibility from locals in managing the reserve.
