Revolutionary Fertilization Methods Slash Nitrogen Pollution in Rice Fields
The study looked at different ways to fertilize rice fields to reduce nitrogen leaching, a common form of pollution. They tested single chemical fertilizer, organic fertilizer, a mix of organic and inorganic fertilizers, and controlled-release fertilizer. Results showed that the mix of organic and inorganic fertilizers reduced nitrogen leaching the most, while controlled-release fertilizer increased nitrogen loss. The mix of organic and inorganic fertilizers was found to be the most environmentally friendly option.
