Agricultural extension services in Indonesia help small sugarcane farmers increase their income and productivity. A study of 8,831 farmers found that access to these services boosted gross value-added, net value-added, labor productivity, and net income by around 40%. However, land productivity was lower for farmers with access to agricultural extension, likely due to differences in input use. Overall, providing agricultural extension services can significantly improve the economic performance of sugarcane farmers in Indonesia.
