Wave Power Dictates Beach Recovery Speed After Typhoon Devastation in South Korea.
A video monitoring system was used to study how a beach in South Korea recovered after being eroded by a typhoon. It took about 1.5 years for the beach to return to its original state. Erosion happened when strong waves were present, while accretion occurred with milder waves. Different parts of the beach experienced varying levels of erosion and recovery, likely due to human-made structures affecting sediment transport. The findings can help design better protection plans for beaches facing severe wave damage.
