New soil water content maps revolutionize global agriculture practices.
Researchers have predicted soil water content at different depths using data from various sources. They measured water content at 33 kPa and 1500 kPa suctions at depths of 0, 10, 30, 60, 100, and 200 cm with a resolution of 250 m. The study did not use Pedo-Transfer-Functions and included available water capacity calculations. The maps can be accessed and visualized on OpenLandMap.org. Antarctica was not included in the study. The files are compressed using GDAL and follow a specific naming convention. The findings provide valuable information on soil water content at different depths for a wide range of applications.
